“REST” — The New Spoken Word Single by MasterPiece
Rest. Release. Revive.
“REST” is more than a spoken word single, it’s a call to action for Black womxn to lay to rest everything we’ve been carrying.
Historically, Black womxn have survived, sacrificed, protested, endured, nurtured, built, fought, and withstood the weight of obstacles and oppression placed before us. But survival was never meant to be our permanent state.
Written from MasterPiece’s personal journey, “REST” explores the decision to release people-pleasing, resist the pressure to overwork, step out of survival mode, and make room for restoration. It is permission to put down what is heavy, reclaim your peace, rejuvenate your spirit, and step fully into your revival. And most of all, it's OK to say "NO".
The single begins somber and moody, reflecting that sobering moment when you finally realize: I am exhausted. Then, like a second wind, the music transforms into a bouncy, rhythmic groove infused with unmistakable Down South flair, moving from weariness into release, joy, and renewal.
This is for every woman who has ever said, “I’m tired.”
For every woman who has carried too much for too long.
For every woman learning that rest is not something she has to earn.
Lay it down. Let it go. REST.
